The official account of the Tata Group on X (formerly known as Twitter) released a statement by N Chandrasekaran, the Chairman of Tata Sons confirming the news of his passing at 11:56 PM, last night.

“It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation,” the statement began.

India’s bronze-medallist at the London 2012 shooting event, Gagan Narang expressed how Ratan Tata’s legacy will be remembered as one that went beyond profits as he went on to impact countless lives.

India’s ace javelin star, Neeraj Chopra recalled one of his memories with the late Ratan Tata and expressed his condolences to the Tata family for their loss.

The Indian bronze medal-winner, freestyle wrestler and now politician, Bajrang Punia also took to social media to express his sadness to hear the news of Ratan Tata’s passing. “He dedicated his entire life to the development of the country. The first Indian chess grandmaster, Viswanathan Anand also expressed his sadness upon hearing the news of the death of Ratan Tata. He reflected on his time with the visionary as both men received their Padma Vibhushan award together.
