Can I get into UC Davis with a 3.8 GPA? ›

However, UC Davis requires a minimum 2.80 GPA to be selected for admission, and many of our most popular programs may require a higher GPA.

In courses listed in the UC Davis General Catalog as being letter graded, passing quality means of D- quality or better.

The acceptance rate at UC Davis is 46.3%.

This means the school is moderately selective. The school expects you to meet their requirements for GPA and SAT/ACT scores, but they're more flexible than other schools. If you exceed their requirements, you have an excellent chance of getting in.

Students are allowed to repeat courses in which they have earned a grade of NP or D+ or lower. Only the first 16 units repeated will remove the first grade from the GPA calculation. Repeating a course more than once requires the permission of Undergraduate Education and Advising Dean's Office.

A 3.8 GPA, or Grade Point Average, is equivalent to an A- letter grade on a 4.0 GPA scale. This means is equivalent to a 90-92%. The national average GPA is 3.0 which means a 3.8 is far above average.

If you use P/NP grading, your GPA is not affected in any manner. If you receive a P grade, this counts towards your overall degree units the same as passing a letter-graded course.

A 3.8 GPA may make you a competitive candidate. But if you aren't sure, it's best to try to improve your GPA, which we discussed above. You can also put additional effort into extracurricular activities, sports, and community service to make your application more competitive.

According to the UCLA Admissions website, there are no GPA requirements for UCLA freshman applicants. For transfers, a minimum GPA of 3.2 is required for the application to be considered.

The average unweighted GPA of admitted students at UC Berkeley tends to hover around 3.9, but I'd like to reassure you that a 3.8 is still a strong GPA and very much within striking distance. Berkeley, like many colleges, practices a holistic review process with no absolute cutoffs.
